Freepbx startup error

One of our freepbx server, that serves agents locally over a LAN, started giving error as in attached image. What could be the reason for such an error? Any recovery steps? When this happens, we don’t have any other way to get it started and have to refresh the installation which is a difficult task as some servers are located at remote stations where internet speed is also not good.

We have a multi-homed FreePBX system. Is it possible to configure asterisk to only listen on specific IP address instead o 0.0.0.0?

FreePBX/Asterisk Logging Cipher

Is there a logging cipher out there to help with reading FreePBX and Asterisk traces?

I was specifically looking at this trace to understand the “Spawn extension” parameters here:

[2020-06-02 12:49:03] VERBOSE[12081][C-0000002c] pbx.c: Spawn extension (ivr-1, s, 11) exited non-zero on ‘PJSIP/Trunk1-00000041’

ivr-1 | I assume this is the IVR object configured

s | maybe an exit object reference of some kind?

11 | maybe an exit code of some kind?

Hi to all,
today I went out of space and things have become unresponsive, so I freed up some space deleting old logs anf things worked again. I noticed that this file /var/lib/mysql/ibdata1 is 12GB. Is there a way to reduce the size of this? freepbx is on a proxmox server with a disk of 32GB so the / partition is only 28GB. Many thanks

Fail gracefully if subscriber absent

Is there anyway to get FreePBX to fail gracefully if a subscriber is ‘absent’? At the moment the call just rings 4 times or so then hangs up. It’s only by trawling through the logs that I can see what’s amiss.

For bonus points if the subscriber is absent it would be great if it could send an email or execute a local command so I can be notified something has gone wrong…

THANKS!

FreePBX Unauthorized Calls

@anlm wrote:

So I inherited a PBX system which for the most part has not given me much issue… until this weekend…

I had a notice of significant charges from our service provider… I did some digging… looks at CDRs and had a TON of calls “from-trunk” and calls from random numbers… they appear to mostly if not all last for approximately 13 seconds…

I did learn through reading that there are two levels of anonymous access…

Allow Anonymous Inbound SIP Calls - was set to NO still set to NO
Allow SIP Guests - was set to YES has since been changed to NO

I notice now that my CDRs have dropped to a fraction of what they were… like over a similar sample size 10,000+ records to 30 records… more importantly the 30 records appear to be legitimate records…

I am waiting on the call detail from the service provider… but I am expecting a million 12 second calls…

can someone explain to me what these are? how this happens? I need to be able to correctly explain this to senior management…

YES the PBX is open to the internet…
YES we are looking at changing that…

but for now I have to at least be able to understand exactly what happened… and I dont think I fully get it…

any help would be really appreciated…

Brand new to FreePBX

@CalumMcM wrote:

Hi all,
Hope all is well, I am brand new to free PBX so please be patient , I have a lot of experience with more traditional systems, Avaya, Panasonic etc however I wanted to give this a try,
I have created a freepbx server on digitalocean and can access it etc, however I seem to need to keep stopping the inbuilt firewall every so often as it kicks me off regularly, I am doing this from the SSH console. How can I keep this inbuilt firewall enabled with allowing me HTTP/HTTPS access to the configuration page?
My other question is regarding extensions, I am struggling to register an extension, I see there is multiple types, I have tried PJSIP and CHANSIP with my snom820 handset I have lying around to little success, I believe I have opened the relevant ports for this also. Could someone explain what all the different extensions mean?
I’m sure once I have a phone registered I will have more questions, the full interface seems a lot more complex than what I had expected!
Thanks

Calum

Login/logout - User & Devices Mode - Bulk Handler

@marcm wrote:

Hello

I have one target and 2 questions:

80 users and 50 hardphones (Yealink T42G), softphones on mobiles as soon as the hard part works.
10 users are always sitting at the same desk so they have their own phone.
Other users will come at the office, sit where a desk is free and I would like them to login and use the phone which is on that desk for the time they stay.

Q1) Am I wrong when I set “User & Devices Mode” for this scenario ?

Q2) in User & Devices Mode
I would like to use BulkHandler to upload Users and Device as they are independent in this mode.
Will it just work ? or will it load Extensions (1 User and 1 Device for each record at the same time) ? Maybe deleting after loading to much is good enough.

Thanks

FreePBX v13 Trunk disconnects provider

Hello fellows,

Starting this morning all the v13 distros un-registered from the VoIP provider. After restart it re-registers for 1 minute then it un-registers again.

My v15 box did this as well, but after I connected to CLI I updated via yum update and after restarting it worked. My v13 dont give me that warning.

Any idea? Is this something related to a key?

TIA!

Hello everyone!

So long story short here. One of our clients packages was potentially stolen. Now if it was stolen and the phones plugged in correctly (which is a long short I know) it should connect to the remote server it was setup to. Is there any way to see past registrations in FreePBX logs without going through 100’s of thousands of entries?

Hot Desking - Replacing own BLF

I’ve been playing with hot desking via log in/out. All that works fine, no issues there.

My challenge is that when using traditional extension mapping where you map an extension to a phone manually, you can tell the phone to substitute your extension with a different one.

I see no way to do that when using hot desking. Not sure why this couldn’t work, so hoping I am just missing something.

Any ideas?

Default codecs

Hi

I have no audio except if I set an allowed codecs string for each device (g722&alaw&g729).
The default audio codecs checked on General SIP settings is not applied.

Is this the expected behavior ?

I remember having found the advice long time ago when I started creating PJSIP extensions in a mixed envt mainly CHANSIP, a couple of PJSIP.

FreePBX 15.0.16.53
D&U mode set. Checking if it does work for me.

Thx

We employ users + devices. Each user has a desk-set and a remote softphone configured as devices. The desk-sest are automatically logged on as soon as they are connected to the LAN. Sangoma Phone not getting IP after downloading FreePBX config

Installed new FreePBX server: FreePBX 15.0.16.53
Running Sangoma: 305 and 705 phones
VLAN Voice: 701 -tagged
VLAN data: 1 - not tagged

When phone is provisioned from the server, the phone will not bind to an IP. The DHCP server is offering an IP, but the phone is not taking it. Sangoma support believes the issue is with the PBX configuration.

I have tried to set both vlans to 701 and am still seeing the same issue.

I was able to pull some logs from a phone that was having issues, I do not know what to make of the data.

Any ideas why the phone would be acting like this once it receives the provisioning file from the server?

Thank you

Hi folks,

I’m playing with docker contenaiser and Feepbx, and it’s working nice for me.

I start 2 PBX in the same docker host and I respect each signaling and RTP port for both. It work fine.

The issue is that the Trunk provider send me the invite to 5060 port, it work well for one PBX, but the other one, that have the 5160 SIP port, don’t work

There’s a way that I can have a SIP proxy or SBC that handle the packet in the same 5060 port and them, for example, filter by a domain or other thing, redirect the traffic to the correct PBX?

This problem is only with Trunks, because I can manually configure sip port in the telephone.
