Exclusive Access to Voicemail Box

With their old system the system would only allow one individual at a time into that extensions voicemail. If a second individual tried it would read a message "the mailbox is currently in use." With the FreePBX Distro system, the system allows multiple individuals to be in the same mailbox concurrently. This is causing workflow issues as the individuals are scattered throughout the office and do not know if someone else is picking up the messages; therefor the messages get processed multiple times. Is there a way to limit access to a voicemail box to only one individual at a time?
