KUDOS! V15 Backup To V15 Restore Was Perfect!

I just spun up another FreePBX Distro, the latest downloadable ISO, on a Celeron Micro ITX fanless motherboard of an unknown origin/make. (eBay). (Love messing with these things). In any event…

I did an Edge Module Backup of my working system and restored it on the Micro ITX after updating the system and modules to Edge. (Or is it on the Edge)?

In the past I had to copy sound files from one system to the other, enable voicemail on extensions and a several other things. (I did report past backup/restore issues).

The Backup ran and the Restore was flawless. No errors, no issues and everything was set properly and it just worked!

Thanks!!

Shutdown and Reboot Just 'Hang'& Had to Manually Configure Network (ifcfg-eth0)

I have installed FreePBX Distro, 15.0.16.50, on a Celeron Micro ITX fanless UEFI motherboard of an unknown origin/make. (eBay). Nice little box BTW. But a couple oddities occurred that someone may have some knowledge of.

1). After installation I logged into the CLI locally and no IP was shown after login but a MAC was shown. After looking at ifcfg-eth0 one line had some non fatal error message written. I wish I would have copied the text. A lot of stuff didn’t make sense and a lot of IPV6 lines which I am not using on my network. DHCP was enabled. Anyway, after configuring the file properly and my dns conf file, things worked fine. I was able to login to the web GUI and Restore a V15 backup from another system.

2). I realize that there may be little that FreePBX and it’s underlying Linux core may find compatible with this unknown make, brand, micro ITX Celeron system but if I use System Admin to Shutdown or Reboot, OR the CLI using ‘reboot’, ‘shutdown’ etc., the system appears to Halt with “Rebooting” or “Shuting Down” on the CLI session. Just sits there… forever. I can hold the power button and it will then turn off and I can restart it and the filesystem always comes up clean.

Is there something I should look for in the BIOS that might help this system reboot or fully shutdown? The BIOS only has a hibernate or sleep setting which is disabled.

Thanks for any thoughts or insight!

John

New user email SIP details

OK, so, I must be having a blonde moment, in the add new extension , in particular quick add extension, when submitting email, it notifies new user, but strangely only for UCP details, I’m thinking to myself WTF good is that, no, its 2020, I must have missed something as to why it does not send the new users SIP details as well, but only UCP, but nope, can’t find it, this is FPBX 14 latest up to date, what have I missed?

Whats the point emailing them their UCP details if we have to verbally give their SIP login to them…

Secondly, kind of related, UCP well dont get me started on the blank UCP dashboard, that Andrew and Tony keep telling people to code it up themselves, but I also dont see where the users can change their SIP password, only their UCP password, kind of makes the entire UCP pointless.

But again, it is 2020 this project is over 15yrs old, so I’m sure I just need someone to tell me where the enabling settings are that I seem to not be able to find.

Call Event Logging

@yknivag wrote:

I have FreePBX set up in what is, perhaps, a rather unusual way. There are no extensions, no outbound calls and no human receiving calls. Callers simply hear an IVR and use it to navigate a number of pre-recorded announcements which are changed from time to time.

The “Call Event Log” and “Asterisk CDR” viewer are great for knowing who called, but they only tell me the duration of the call and the last visited destination.

I know that if I set verbose logging on then I can see in the log which destinations a caller visited but that requires a fair bit of work. I guess I could use DTMF logging but again it’s still in a log file and requires some trawling through.

Is there an alternative to the Call Event Log screen that will show me a call’s “journey” through the system? That is every destination they visit and for how long? Something like the “Call Event Logging” screen but that showed every step would be perfect.

Backup/Restore Perfect Except IAX

@johnjces wrote:

I know, I know that I should do a pjsip trunk between my point to point FPX boxes but IAX has just worked. I just did an install of FPX 15 on an unknown celeron micro ITX board off of eBay and did a restore from a backup of my current fully functioning FPBX system. I must tell you the restore was perfect. Everything I had entered and set was there in the restored PC. I have compared every and I mean every setting of both FPXes… multiple times.

My Flowroute PJSIP trunk and my SIP trunk work fine, all extensions work great, calls in and out via the PSTN work great no issues. Well I never did check my IAX and today when I did, “all circuits are busy”. No joy in or out via IAX. Both remote and local have the same message and can’t connect

Both ends show IAX connected. Remote end is a FPBX 14 and local are both15, both the backed up and restored boxes. I reset both FPXes both firewall routers (VPN into the remote site) and no joy. I then scoured the aaterisk full log. No real errors other than cannot connect to an endpoint or no endpoint found or similar logged message/error. Like no connection at all was present or created. After no endpoint found it would then go through the hang up sequence and play the congestion message also seen in the log.

When I put my backed up… the old FPBX, back in the network, it all works just fine.

Any thoughts and what’s missing? From both ends IAX shows connected. Ping and response times show good. The new FPBX uses the same IP, with the old one shut down.

Hope all this makes sense and again, thank-you so much for any thoughts. What did I and/or the backup/restore miss?

Call park: Can't transfer calls to parking lot

$

@cinergi wrote:

I have a newly created FreePBX install on a Raspberry Pi 4 (RasPBX). Everything working fine including normal call transfers, except call parking using the standard Parking module.

I’ve set up extension 300 as the parking lot extension, and slots 301-305 for parking. When I do an attended transfer of a call to 300 (or if I simply dial 300), I get a message that “The call cannot be completed as dialed”. If I do a blind transfer to 300, the call simply drops. If I try to transfer a call directly into one of the slots 301-305, it says that there is no parked call there.

Any ideas what could be wrong? I’m completely new to FreePBX, but nonetheless I have my first system running perfectly after a few days of setup and fine-tuning. Just need to get the parking working.

Thanks!

Regenerate/SubmitAll command

$

@kristiandg wrote:

Good morning, all.

We ran into an issue on Friday where Bulk Import ended up putting holes in the config. LIterally, extension data wasn’t being imported/applied. In fact, you could export the config, re-import it, then re-export it again, and see differences. This essentially led to a “down system”, in that calls to any queues failed, and stations had sporadic operation (Literally,the number of database entries for an affected extension were less than a normal non-impacted extension). We opened a ticket with support and they were able to identify that as the cause.

SERIOUS THANKS to Lorne for finding that!

But it led to something I’ve talked about a couple times in this forum over the years. There must be a way in FPBX to make the GUI regenerate the config for everything, not just items it thinks are changed. We literally had to visit each extension and re-submit each page - that was the fix. In mentioning this need on the support call, we were told “yeah, there is a command that does that, but it’s so rarely used, don’t recall what it is.”

So, I’m taking this to the forums once again. In the past, I’ve been told no such thing exists, but now I’ve heard it may exist after all. Either way, it really needs to exist - it is a very important need when things aren’t working properly, to ensure the Asterisk config is “true” to what has been programmed.

So, I’m asking - if ANYONE knows this command, please share it. If it turns out the command doesn’t exist, please help to get it added to this release, because it’s a crucial piece when it’s identified that the fix is to resubmit everything manually. That was a small system (only a couple hundred extensions), but imagine having to do that on a couple thousand…

Thanks.

Child IVR extension doesn't work

@BigB wrote:

We have an IVR that is a child of another IVR and we have setup 3 different IVR digit extensions. However when attempting to dial any of these extensions the caller will reach the timeout set inside the IVR and the call is disconnected. I have tried toggling “enable direct dial” on and off which doesn’t fix it. The only thing that will fix the problem is by setting “Force Strict Dial Timeout” to “No”. I believe this may actually be a bug in the software but I can’t be certain. On our parent IVR’s we don’t have to set “Force Strict Dial Timeout” to no and can have “Enable Direct Dial” enabled. I am just wondering why a child IVR would have behave differently?

No termination audio for remote Phones

@kfeen wrote:

I’ve been trying to fix this issue for a while and am not getting anywhere.

I have a FreePBX server located at my office. Any phones that are connected to the PBX on the local network work fine. However, any phones that are not on the same network as the PBX (such as my clients phones) are having errors. The remote phones can connect and register to the PBX and they can get calls just fine. When I try to make a call from the remote phone it will ring out and the person on the other line can pickup but if they do I get no audio whatsoever.

I have disabled the firewall and forwarded ports 5060 and 10000-20000 on my router but it doesn’t seem to make any difference. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hopefully someone can help as we are suffering an outage. We were noticing a voice quality issue so we rebooted our FreePBX server. When it came back the GUI displayed the following error:

We found this post by Dave and followed the instructions, to no avail.

The password in MYSQL was the same as what was in /etc/FreePBX.conf (the MySQL command said 0 changes made when I tried to update the password to what was originally in the conf file.

For fun I tried to update the password to a new password in the freepbx.conf file and using the SQL command, but it didn’t work. Any ideas? We are hurting without this box. Cant seem to restore without DB access too.

Hello

I’ve had this issue in the past and was only able to rectify it by paying for tech support from Sangoma. I’m hoping to resolve this with the aid of this forum.

Issue: the FXO & FXS ports aren’t being recognized by the system.

I’ve run trough the command line configuration as well as the DAHDI GUI with no improvement. I’ve disabled and re-enabled the DAHDI module.

Any ideas as to how I can get the card to work? Thanks in advance for any help that can be provided.
